Dead Man's Switch

A simple failsafe: SendRecurring checks in with you on a schedule. If you don't confirm, your message is delivered to the people you chose.

How it works

  1. You set it up. Write a private message (the payload), pick who should receive it if you don't check in (failsafe contacts), and choose a monthly or yearly check schedule.
  2. We check in. On that schedule, SendRecurring emails your account address with a unique "confirm you're okay" link.
  3. You confirm. Click the link and the switch resets for the next period. No login required for the confirmation itself.
  4. If you don't confirm. We send reminder emails over about two weeks. If there's still no confirmation, we send your payload to every failsafe address and mark the switch as triggered.

What it's for

Use a dead man's switch when you want important information to reach trusted people if something happens to you—instructions, account details, wishes, or anything else you wouldn't want left unsaid. It runs quietly in the background until it's needed.

Plans

  • Basic — 1 dead man's switch
  • Pro — up to 3 dead man's switches
  • Free — not included (upgrade to create one)

Dead man's switch check emails, reminders, and failsafe deliveries do not count against your monthly email send quota.

Privacy and control

Your payload is encrypted at rest in our database and only decrypted when you view or edit it, or when it is delivered to your failsafe contacts after the grace period. Confirmation links use a long random token so they can't be guessed. You can edit, pause (turn off), or delete a switch anytime from your account.
